Great Part Time Jobs With Health Insurance Benefits

Part-time employment is often associated with foregone benefits including corporate discounts, paid vacations days and, of course health insurance. This happens because employers consider that part-time workers do not invest 100% of their time in the organization to reimburse for the high cost of health insurance. However, in the turbulent economic environment of today, there are companies that are interested in offering part-time jobs that combine flexibility with benefits in an effort to attract, but mostly retain hard-working, highly-qualified workers.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (http://www.bls.gov/), the jobs/companies that offer part-time employment with full-time benefits are the following:

a) Healthcare Sector

Hospitals and healthcare organizations offer full healthcare benefits because they want to hire highly-qualified employees. For instance, medical assistants receive, besides healthcare coverage, 401k retirement plans, pension, and paid vacation days, while they are also allowed to work flexible hours. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, medical assistant is one of the fastest growing professions today occupying numerous part-time employees in hospitals. Other careers in the healthcare sector that enjoy part-time employment with benefits are nurses, therapists and physicians.

b) Retail Sector

Considering part-time employment in the retail sector is one of the best deals. Because the retail sector is cyclical and highly affected by macro-economic conditions, nationwide retailers are willing to offer health insurance benefits to part-time employees in order to attract and retain them. Prominent examples of retailers that offer their part-time workers healthcare insurance, 401k plans and other benefits are Nike, Nordstrom, Land’s End, Macy’s, JC Penney, Walgreens, Target, IKEA, Barnes & Noble, Starbucks and Whole Foods. For instance, baristas at Starbucks who work at least 20 hours per week are eligible for healthcare insurance, 401k plan, legal services, and paid vacation days. Similarly, cashiers at Whole Foods working minimum 30 hours per week with minimum 800 hours in the supermarket chain are eligible for healthcare coverage. And if they stay over a year with the company, they are eligible for 401k plan and 20% discount on Whole Food items.

c) National Delivery Companies

Package handlers at DHL, UPS and FedEx receive full healthcare benefits including dental care, vision care, disability insurance and life insurance for themselves and their dependants. To be fully eligible they have to complete one year at the company and work minimum 15 hours per week. Part-time employees at national delivery companies can also receive 401k plans and paid vacation time.

Overall, situation is changing for part-time employment and employees can enjoy both flexibility and benefits in certain jobs. For instance, besides the above mentioned options, for those who have a teaching experience and can prepare standardized tests for students, test preparation instructor is another alternative for part-time employment with health insurance benefits. Similarly, software companies seek for tech savvy part-time employees and offer them health insurance, among other benefits.

How to find Jobs at Catholic High Schools

Catholic high schools are private schools that provide religious instruction in addition to academic instruction. Many Catholic high schools are single-sex schools, while others offer boarding school programs. Persons interested in obtaining employment at a Catholic high school may find a variety of avenues through which to play a part in a student’s development

Instructions

1

Live-in Residential Counselor

A live-in residential counselor resides in campus dormitories and provides spiritual and emotional support for high school boarding students on campus. Depending on the school, the students may have special needs. These may include common teenage problems such as self-esteem, identity exploration, choosing a life direction and relationships with the opposite sex. Live-in residential counselors also teach independent living skills, coordinate events, maintain discipline for rule-breakers and keep the dormitory organized. The position requires a bachelor’s degree in social work or psychology, or a high school diploma plus two years of related experience.

2

Admissions Counselor

Because Catholic high schools are private schools, applications for admission must be submitted by parents and reviewed by the admissions committee. The admissions counselor coordinates with parents and students to solicit applications, develops programs to attract prospective students, organizes open house tours of the high school and sets up placement exams. This position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration or marketing.

3

Director of Mission and Ministry

A director of mission and ministry supervises and coordinates the religious instruction into the academic schedule. The job requires establishing events that highlight the teachings of the gospel, such as plays, volunteer opportunities and evangelism. The director establishes and promotes rituals and traditions that are key to the school’s individual identity as Catholic. A bachelor’s degree in religious studies is required for this position.

4

Choral Music Teacher

A choral music teacher may teach part-time or full-time. He will train and conduct the choir in choral music performance. Training may include voice work, singing with accompaniment, and music reading. Many choral teachers must know how to play an organ or have strong keyboard skills. The minimum requirements for the position include a bachelor’s degree in music and at least two years of experience.

What Are Mental Health Jobs???

What are Mental Health Jobs?

Now that you’ve finished your medical degree, it’s time to find a job. In hospitals or medical facilities, nothing can be more difficult and demanding as mental health jobs. That is why we often see a great demand of these jobs when we make job searches in the internet or in advertisements. Also, the increase in mental patients in most facilities and institutions contribute to the increase in demand for these jobs.

Contrary to what most people think, there are many aspects of mental health. In the field of psychology alone, there are other areas of specialization such as neuropsychology, geropsychology and health psychology. There is also what we call school psychologists. These are the counselors in most schools and universities. Another kind is called developmental psychology, which focuses on a man’s psychological development through life. There is also what you call industrial psychology, which focuses on the mechanics of employees in the workplace.

Mental health nurses are those who have graduated the regular nursing course. During the course training, they need to specialize in mental health in order to qualify as mental health nurses.

Doctors who specialize in mental health are commonly called psychiatrists. Each state would impose qualifications before one can practice. For most countries, they are those who graduated the regular physician’s course, and a few years of specialization in psychiatry. There is also a field called psychotherapy, which deals more on counseling and therapy instead of the clinical aspect of treatment.

Mental health jobs can also be found in medical schools where mental health courses are offered.

Aside from those mentioned, there are other jobs in the mental health field. Some of them are medical or hospital social workers, psychiatric technicians and other hospital personnel. Some mental health centers hire other hospital personnel such as dieticians, physical therapists, pharmacists, dentists, laboratory staff, radiologists, speech pathologists, optometrists, and many others.

As for the pay, the salary range for these jobs is quite wide. Depending on a person’s education and experience, one can earn twice as much as those who work in the same position. And like jobs in other industries, companies prefer applicants who are better qualified and trained. This can be seen in their educational background and previous job experiences.

Aside from the skills necessary to carry out their jobs, an unwritten qualification is added, and that is, their ability to care for the patients and listen to their needs. Mental health patients have extra needs than ordinary medical patients. That is why there is a need for mental health workers to be more patient and understanding than workers in other medical fields.

Health care industries shall continue to expand in the coming years. This means that more mental health jobs shall be available. If you want a job in the mental health field, it is easy to find one. You just have to know where to find them. Make a search for jobs wanted within your area. You can visit the website of the medical facility or company that you wish to work in to see their job opportunities. Or you may register in a job support website. These websites not only provide you with a list of the jobs available, they also provide articles on career advice, industry news and articles, and tips on job hunting and interview.

Nursing Jobs For Felons? Inside Track to Nursing Jobs For Felons

Finding good employment for felons is one of the most difficult problems that ex-convicts encounter. Since the economic downturn has left many unemployed, finding high-paying or even steady employment for felons has become very tough. One of the best ways to get a recession-proof job is to choose a career in a growing industry such as health care. Nursing, in particular, is a career that offers many advantages for ex-felons.

Felon Job Opportunities: Nursing

Nursing as a profession is now very much in demand. The U.S. has such a serious shortage of nurses that foreign nurses are being recruited in mass to fill the gap. From now until 2014, registered nurses are expected to create the second largest number of new jobs in the U.S. among all occupations, according to the Department of Labor.

In addition, the pay is good and there are numerous job opportunities for felons since nurses can work in many different places. These include hospitals, clinics, nursing homes, residential homes, occupational health services, prisons, schools, leisure cruise ships, etc. Nurses can also work for the U.S. armed forces and voluntary non-profit organizations.

As a career choice for ex-felons, the medical field is one of the most prestigious and has the best potential for job security since there is a severe imbalance between demand and availability of qualified personnel. Not only are there plentiful job opportunities for felons who are qualified nurses, career advancement is also expected to be rapid due to the shortage of experienced nurses.

Felon Friendly Jobs: How to Become a Nurse

Nurses focus on the individual’s needs and provide care, counseling and advice. This career is for people who have the qualities of compassion and patience as well as skills in critical thinking and problem-solving.

All paths to a nursing career must begin with a high school diploma or a GED.

The next step is to take either a diploma or degree course in nursing so that you will gain the proper clinical knowledge needed. You can finish an associate degree course in nursing in two years while a bachelor’s degree in nursing takes four years to complete.

Then you will have to pass the state board exam for nursing to get your license. At this point you can get a job as a nurse.

Even after you get your nursing license, you can still choose to continue your education and specialize. Examples of nursing specialties are nurse anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, legal nurse investigators, critical care nurses, etc.

Employment for Felons: Nursing License

Of course, if you know anything about nursing the first question in your mind right now is whether or not you are eligible for a nursing license if you have a felony conviction.

You will have to check your state’s laws about nursing licenses. Call your nursing board, explain your situation including the details about your felony and ask what you will need to do to get a license or to sit for the nursing exam.

All states will have stringent screening procedures in place for all registered nurses but most likely, having a felony does not automatically bar you from the profession.

The California Board of Registered Nursing, for example, evaluates each application they receive on a case by case basis and that there is no specific type of felony conviction that will disqualify an applicant automatically. If you have a felony and there is some question regarding your eligibility for a nursing license, you will have to submit some proofs of rehabilitation. Your case will then be judged depending on the nature, severity and how recent you were charged as well as rehabilitation and other extenuating factors.

In other words, you will have to jump through more hoops than a regular applicant but if you can show that you have been rehabilitated then you can still work as a registered nurse, especially if it has been many years since the felony.

Nursing Job for Felons: Summary

Nursing jobs for felons are a good choice for people who desire a secure, high-paying job with lots of potential for career advancement. You will also get to help others who are in need of care. Nursing jobs for felons are for people who have compassion for the sick and problem-solving skills. A nursing diploma or bachelor’s degree is needed to apply for nursing. You will also have to pass the state board exam to get a nursing license. Job opportunities for felons with a nursing license are not limited to hospitals. You can get employment for felons who are registered nurses in places like clinics, cruise ships, nursing homes, schools, etc.
